It All Ties Back To Culture

The Culture Junky
Welcome back. It’s great to see you here. We’ve (hopefully) got some good weather on the calendar out here in the Chicagoland area, but before we make the switch to the weekend, let’s take some time to discuss company culture.
I’ve continued to see plenty of talk surrounding this sort of back-and-forth that’s taking place out there regarding remote work, hybrid work, or fully in-person work. Some places of work want everyone to be fully in person, while others have taken a more laid-back approach and either implemented a hybrid system or a fully-remote approach.
It’s become somewhat of a hot topic in the business community, but a recent statistic I saw from Gallup indicated that how employees are managed has four-times as much influence on employee engagement and wellbeing as where they work.
Yup, you read that right. Team members care more about how they’re being treated and how they’re being managed than they are about where they’re working.
Now, I draw attention to this not to sway you one way or the other regarding in-person work or hybrid-work because frankly every team and every situation is different. The important part of this that I want to relay is that it all comes down to leadership.
If team members don’t feel as though they’re being managed properly, or engaged properly, the statistics show that they’re more likely to be unhappy, and more likely to leave.
If you’ve been following my Culture Junky content for some time then chances are you’ve heard me say this one in the past:
“Happy people are productive people and productive people are profitable people.”
Now, more than ever, it all comes down to culture.
Culture is the difference-maker between someone feeling like they’re being mis-managed, or someone feeling like (regardless of whether they’re remote or in-person) they’re in a ‘good place’ when it comes to their business.
So think about it, The Culture Junky sure will.
Be good to each other out there.
