The Culture Junky

Welcome back to another edition of The Culture Junky weekly blog.

It’s great to see you here on this Wednesday as we make our way through the week and on to the weekend.

I recently saw a post on my Lincoln about gym culture, specifically this sort of exclusive, really almost ‘cult like’ mentality where if you’re not a part of that specific gym, you’re making some sort of big terrible mistake.

People were defending the weight machines at one gym, while others were defending the atmosphere and environment at another. Surprisingly, in the comments section things were getting pretty heated and it got me thinking.

When it comes to company culture, there are really only two kinds: intentional and unintentional. But within those two groups you’ll find many different organizations.

Now the organizations that have an intentional company culture, they’re winning the game. Sure they all may not look alike, but the point is they’re all good in their own way. It just comes down to which one is the right fit for you.

It’s not about advertising and broadcasting a culture that’s simply built on being ‘better’ than the others. It’s about building a culture that’s right for you as a leader because when you know what you want, and develop an intentional culture around it. Then your culture will attract the RIGHT people to you.

So give that some thought this week, The Culture Junky will. Be good to each other out there.
